Call for Participants: Housing Needs for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in New Brunswick

UNBSJ is looking for people 19+ who work with and/or volunteer with organizations supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Anyone who fulfills one of these roles and is 19 years of age or older is welcome to participate, including those with an intellectual or developmental disability.

What are we doing?

Despite increased attention to housing affordability and need in recent years,  the specific housing needs, wants and challenges of adults with an intellectual and/or developmental disability are often neglected or not well-documented.

The Housing, Mobilization and Engagement-Research Lab (HOME-RL) is building a tool that will support the disability community, non-profits and governments to fill this gap!

As someone who works or volunteers with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in New Brunswick, we hope you will consider participating in the building of this tool. You will be invited to participate in a 60-90 minute interview. You will be asked questions about your knowledge of the housing needs, wants and challenges of adults with an intellectual and/or development disability in New Brunswick. You will also be asked about the best ways to engage with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities when assessing housing needs, wants and challenges. You will be provided with $50 as a token of appreciation for your time.

Following this interview, you will be asked to participate in a workshop that will “test” the tool. That is, review it and make recommendations. You can elect not to participate in the workshop. It is not required for participation in the interviews.
