"We all have a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. And when we combine this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exaltation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals”.
-Kallam Anji Reddy
Some time ago, I had the opportunity to read Dr. Kallam Anji Reddy’s simple yet
profound reflection. His words resonated deeply with me, as they perfectly align
with my lifelong purpose as a teacher: to serve others.
Nearly two years ago, when I arrived in this city to pursue my studies, my focus
was entirely on adapting to college and my new environment. Yet, I felt that
something was missing — until I discovered L’Arche Saint John. While initially, it may have seemed like just another academic requirement, it quickly became much more. This extraordinary place has allowed me to reconnect with the profound joy that comes from serving and learning from others.
At first, I must admit, I was apprehensive about meeting expectations. However,
the sense of community and family within L’Arche soon replaced that fear with a
deep appreciation for the meaningful experiences I encountered. The harmonious and synchronous relationships between the staff and core members are truly invaluable.
Every moment spent in L’Arche’s programs has been a lesson in itself. Whether
through conversations, shared laughter, or the privilege of partaking in a meal or event, I have experienced the indescribable fulfillment that comes from serving others — a feeling that continues to inspire and enrich my journey.
