The world's largest generosity movement, GivingTuesday takes place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes.
We know there are countless worthy causes out there. We’re grateful that you chose us.
While the Government of New Brunswick, through the Department of Social Development, is a central funder of our work, we face the daunting task of raising about 50 per cent of the money we need every year just to keep our doors open.
I say daunting because that effort falls on the shoulders of a small staff and volunteers, including a highly dedicated board of directors. GivingTuesday is an important day on the calendar for us – one of many.
When I have the opportunity to meet with our donors, I am moved by their support for our mission: to make known the gifts, and contributions, of adults with intellectual disabilities. They understand that we aren’t just providing services, as critical as they are. We’re building community.
At the same time, we know that what we are doing today is not enough – that there are other adults with intellectual disabilities and their families who could desperately use our help.
That’s why we’re looking with determination to a future where we can expand our community and the programs we offer. To do that, we need more support from generous individuals and organizations.
